About The Pittsburgh Catholic

Founded in 1844 by the first bishop of Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh Catholic was published until the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020. It was the oldest Catholic newspaper in continuous publication in the United States. The news operation resumed, online only, in September 2020.

Through reporting impactful local, national and international news of the Catholic Church, readers gain a better understanding of the mission of the Church in today’s world.
